Heavenly bodies cast down by the lord for their indulgence of mortal pleasures abound the desolate grey streets. The
greenery dies to feed their mechanical stimulation, and the subjects languish into the Earth. Our waify, perfect-jawed
heroes and heroines, all muscle and ribs, can barely open their eyes, strung out from constant indulgence. Wade into this surreal apocalypse and we can understand David Rappeneau as a true postmodern master, showcasing the beautiful facade of the 21st century, a purgatorial world that lacks any of the vibrancy of reality. It is perhaps prophetic then, where Rappeneau sees the world going. Eventually, Earth will become a limbo where everyone is perfect, barely alive, and only Short term pleasure matters.
